Elon Musk’s model mom Maye Musk walks runway at fashion week amid ongoing Trump drama

Elon Musk’s model mom Maye Musk shuts down the runway at NYFW show amid White House drama.

NEW YORK — New York Fashion Week is in full swing, with runway shows lighting up Manhattan and offering a glimpse into the trends set to define fall and winter.

But on Tuesday at the Glasshouse, a sleek riverfront high-rise, design house Juzui achieved something unexpected: making Elon the less famous Musk—if only for a moment.

After a lineup of models showcased an eclectic mix of floral prints, slouchy pants, and tulle micro-skirts, the grand finale belonged to none other than Maye Musk, who closed out the show in style.

Her signature cropped silver hair was the perfect complement to a long, shimmering charcoal gown, topped with a feathery white fur jacket. The collection echoed similar silhouettes, with the standout motif of the afternoon—a vibrant, multi-colored bloom—drawing inspiration from winter gardens.

Maye Musk’s runway moment wasn’t just a surprise; it was a nod to her longstanding relationship with the fashion house, making her appearance a fitting and stylish finale.

“Maye, as a person and as a woman, I truly adore and respect her,” chief designer Taoray Wang told USA TODAY after the show.

“She inspired me,” Wang says. “And I believe she hasn’t just inspired me—she’s inspired many of my customers in China as well.”

Maye, 76, is not only a model but also an author, with five decades of fashion experience to her name.

She’s graced the Juzui runway before and shared a warm embrace with Wang at the conclusion of the show.

Musk’s moment on the catwalk comes at a time when her son has risen through the ranks of government under the new administration.

After aligning himself with President Donald Trump in the final months of the campaign, Musk has become a trusted advisor to the president, playing a key role in selecting cabinet appointees and leading efforts to reduce the federal workforce.

Some members of Congress have raised concerns over Musk’s seemingly unchecked access to the inner workings of government.

“The Musk hatchet brigade has infiltrated a gold mine of data that every foreign spy and corrupt actor would love to see,” Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., warned. “It is a prescription for nightmares.”

Maye Musk has largely stayed silent on politics, though she echoed the anti-immigrant sentiment shared by Trump and her son on X last October. (She was born in Canada and raised in South Africa.)
